A new very local [to me]one off event this. Site visit complete and what a fabulous venue. Well worth the visit [recconasance is seldom a waste of time. Napoleon, he lost?!].
Got a good spot and location for the scenario's worked out Actors are being employed to recreate the Hall at War with the man of the house being in charge of the Broddy H.G. so expect inspections.Plenty of security on site and camping for vans. Looking forward to this one.

I rang brodsworth and they said there was NO camping! someone got their wires crossed? A jobsworth? Apparently, there IS a good pub 300 yards away, the Pickburn Arms, and it serves food. So, is ther camping or not? It will limit me, but then with my circumstances at the minute with my dad i can't see me being able to do more than a day anyway.

Incidentally, what's this "Wisans" crap on the website? Some virus got in? Nowt;' to do with Home Guard when I click on it.

Checking the glich advise not to open links.
Broddy IS camping, period, plastic, or mobile home. pub yes. Got draft itinary, tight but interesting with kids recruiting drill at 12, firing practice at 13.30 and more drill at 14.00 with Gereral Percival inspection at 16.00 busy day's so the squad needs to be switched on as timing is crushell [I never like working to a timetable].
The English Heritage get it right and expect us to too, that means all should be no.1 man i.e. no plastic, no unauthorised wear[including specs.] talk as if you are the Home Guard etc. I will be there Friday pm to set up.

What time does the event start on th saturday; 11am?

What if some of us (ie Richard or even me) arrive late; will we be let in?

Is anyone camping from our lot at all over the weekend?

If so, if I turn up Friday night, will there be a tent to kip in or do we have to bring our own?

I might only be able to do one day, Rich possibly the same. Play it by ear.

Moral of story is; don't ring up and ask the staff cos' they know bugger all! Duff gen, again.

Spoke with Russ. Why would you want to confuse yourself by ringing the site, that's my job to get things sorted. We are bringing tentage and cooking gear but self catering, yes of course you will be let in, but why would anyone want to be late?. It starts at 11.00 so I would like a muster at 10. 40,[Sat.] so all know what's happening and when.

    Hi Steve
No need for you to be incorrectly dressed, we have kit for you if you wish to have even more fun, however the offer of the nun is a good idea but we have a full schedule [just seen the programme]also we have another role for you.

just want to say a very big well done to all the home guard members & guests that made the event so good. to get praise from English heritage is certainly an honour for the group. all the hard work certainly paid off, & im pleased that the weather held out for you on the Monday, as the forecast was lousy! well done everyone, see you all at thwaites mill

Wow!! What a great weekend and a great turnout of the Fighting 48th!! I enjoyed every minute of it and it was great to meet up with so many again. Brodsworth is a great venue and I think we've impressed English Heritage enough to get further invites to these gatherings. Congrats to all on the Northover teams. Every demo was truly impressive. Nice to meet up with Eve and look forward to seeing her at our future events. Many thanks again to Mick O'Rourke for professional services in time of need! Roll on Thwaites Mill

Yes H and Steve. got email from E.H. most positive and yes offer of more work from them now they've seen us at our best and we've cemented a good relationship. The many comments we've had are a real boost to morale'. [and means we got it right] many from E.H.,can't get better than that as we know how much they like there authenticity. I think we worked much harder than any real Homeguarders on exercise [must be an age thing]. A pleasure to see you all and all worked without hassle, had all the group there at some time [just 3 missed out]. 3600 visitors [over 3 day's] saw us perform, got me thinking although this is our thing but it can be a little unnerving performing to such a large crowd to some??. So well done all. The early training day really paid divi's.
